Fly & Ice Fishing Report – Late Winter

What are the fish biting on today? Check back often for our latest Jackson Hole Fly Fishing Report update!

March 5, 2025

Snake River

The Snake River in Jackson Hole is trending towards a Spring pattern. Recent warm afternoons and overall mild conditions have our bugs and fish stirring. Unless a hard freeze returns we should see this pattern deepen and officially spring fly fishing will be here. Walk and wade fishing makes the most sense for now but we are beginning to rig the boat for a couple upcoming float trips. The best activity will be from noon to 4pm. Fish will move to small midges and larvae flies in slow, inside zones or backwaters. Enjoy the winter on the Snake!

PLEASE, FISH BARBLESS HOOKS AND TAKE CARE OF OUR PRIZED NATIVE CUTTHROATS!

Snake River Tributaries

Our Snake River tributaries are all very low and cold. You can find a few resident fish hanging in the deepest runs, but overall activity will be minimal except on the warmest afternoons.

Lava Creek Ranch

Ice Fishing for Trophy Rainbows and Tiger Trout with Grand Teton Fly n Ice Fishing!

We have only a few more weeks to check out this incredible winter venue. Our ice is nearly 3′ thick so most years we can run a trip here until mid April. The fish are rested this year with less pressure and March is often the best ice of the season. Come find a monster rainbow on sunny afternoon and you’ll see what the fuss is about, super fun trip!

Salt River

Cold, no report.

Teton Park Lakes

JACKSON LAKE: Good ice over the lake, some areas of overflow and melt water but solid ice for another month we hope. Fish are spread out but on the feed. Try shallow, 8-10′ early then go 20-40′ later in the day.

JENNY LAKE: Solid, deep snow as well. No recent fishing report.

Green River

Cold winter flows and shelf ice, some breakup happening in the lower sections. Typically by late March or early April this is ready to go! Streamers and nymphs.

Yellowstone National Park

Closed for the Season.
